Module 1: The New Creation and the Work of the Holy Spirit

Course Summary

Module One introduces students to the transforming work of the Holy Spirit in the life of a believer. Students will learn how salvation creates a new spiritual identity and how the Holy Spirit lives within believers to renew the mind, develop Christlike character, and release spiritual gifts.

This training focuses on growing in both personal spiritual maturity (sanctification) and Spirit-led service (consecration). Participants will learn how to live an abundant, Spirit-led life while discovering how the Holy Spirit equips believers to minister effectively to others.

The goal of this training is to develop and release multi-gifted Holy Spirit teams to serve the Body of Christ throughout the world.

1. The New Creation in Christ

• Salvation produces a new creation, not simply a new beginning.

• Believers are spiritually regenerated and sealed by the Holy Spirit.

• Our spirit becomes united with the Holy Spirit and receives the promise of eternal life.

• Scripture focus: 2 Corinthians 5:17, Ephesians 4:30, Galatians 6:15.

2. Regeneration and Renewal

• The Holy Spirit regenerates our spirit, making us spiritually new.

• Our mind must continually be renewed to align with God’s truth.

• Scripture focus: Titus 3:5–7, Romans 12:2.

3. The Work of the Holy Spirit in the Believer

The Holy Spirit develops three key areas in every believer:

Holy Spirit Fruit

• Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.

Christlike Character

• Compassion, humility, forgiveness, obedience, righteousness, courage.

Holy Spirit Gifts

• Prophecy, teaching, wisdom, knowledge, discernment, healing, leadership, evangelism, service, and others.

These gifts are given by the Holy Spirit to strengthen and build the Body of Christ.

4. Loving God with Your Whole Life

Jesus taught that the greatest commandment is to:

• Love God with all your heart

• Love God with all your soul

• Love God with all your mind

• Love God with all your strength

And to love your neighbor as yourself.

Through the Holy Spirit, believers learn to align their emotions, identity, decisions, thinking, and actions with God.

5. Sanctification and Consecration

Sanctification
Inward transformation that produces holiness and Christlike maturity.

Consecration
Outward dedication and availability to serve God and others.

Key principle:
Sanctification makes us holy.
Consecration makes us useful.

6. Spiritual Disciplines for Growth

Students will learn how spiritual disciplines help believers grow in maturity and effectiveness:

• Bible study and meditation

• Prayer

• Fasting

• Worship

• Confession

• Fellowship

• Service and generosity

• Rest and celebration

• Disciple-making

7. Identity and Mission in Christ

Believers grow into their calling as:

• Servants of Christ

• A royal priesthood

• The light of the world

• The salt of the earth

• Witnesses empowered by the Holy Spirit

• Ambassadors representing Christ

8. Baptism in the Holy Spirit

Scripture teaches that believers can receive empowerment from the Holy Spirit for ministry and witness.

Students will learn:

• The biblical foundation for Spirit baptism

• How to receive in faith

• How the Holy Spirit releases spiritual gifts for ministry.

Course Outcome

By the end of this module, students will:

• Understand their new identity in Christ

• Learn how the Holy Spirit transforms the believer

• Grow in spiritual maturity and character

• Discover and begin exercising spiritual gifts

• Be equipped to serve in Holy Spirit-led ministry teams
